Many early users of Design Room ONE have commented on the lack of a search capability in the web application. I'm happy to announce that in the recently released version 2018.06 this feature is now available.
You can search for model elements and diagrams by typing their name (or parts of their name) in the new search field that is located in the upper right corner of the web application. Found elements are presented in a new search view.
You can sort the found elements by clicking on the headers in the search view table. You can also filter the search result by typing a few characters in the Filter box. Only those table rows that match the typed characters will then be shown.
As can be seen in the picture above, boldface is used in the Match column to indicate which part of the text that matches the search string. It is allowed to use wildcard characters in the search string to match certain name patterns. The wildcard '*' matches zero to many arbitrary characters and the wildcard '?' matches exactly one arbitrary character.
Once you have found the element you were looking for just double-click it in the search result table to show the element in the Explorer view. You can also use the hyperlink in the Match column, for example in case you want to navigate to the element in a different browser tab.
A few search options are available. For example, you can choose whether you want to search in the currently open design only, or in all designs that are available on the server.
In addition to the new search capability Design Room ONE 2018.06 also contains many other new features and bug fixes. Worth mentioning is the new command for synchronizing links in the Design Room ONE integration plugin for RSAD. This command can be used when linked requirements have been changed, to ensure that up-to-date information about those requirements are stored in the RSAD model.
Another new feature allows you to copy information from Design Room ONE to Design Room Live, a light-weight, collaborative modeling tool that is currently available as a beta release (the first production version is expected to be ready early April). Copy a Design Room ONE element in the Explorer view or in a diagram using the Copy URL command. Then you can simply paste the element using the Ctrl + V keyboard shortcut in Design Room Live.
We look forward to your feedback on these new features, and in general all other comments and suggestions you may have for Design Room ONE. The next release is expected to be ready around March 5.
